邁入第十年的「中央研究院講座」今年特邀英國考古人類學者Michael Rowlands來台發表演說，講題為「Civilisation Recast: From Africa to Asia and Beyond」，結合考古材料、歷史研究、物質文化與人類學，探討非洲與亞洲從史前時期、到近現代的文化交流，反思「文明」的概念。

Professor Michael Rowlands, an internationally renowned archaeologist and anthropologist, will visit Taiwan as Academia Sinica Lecturer and deliver two lectures during his stay.
The first lecture, entitled “Civilisation Recast: From Africa to Asia and Beyond.” will be given at Academia Sinica on April 16.
His second lecture, entitled “Endangered Heritage: Restitution and Repair.” will be delivered at the National Taiwan University on the following day. Members of the media and the public are welcome to attend.

羅蘭教授研究專長為文化資產/博物館與物質文化研究，領域涵蓋人類學、考古學、物質文化研究、文化遺產、比較文明等，他是人文領域少數能跨越學科與區域研究範疇的研究者。
現任英國倫敦大學比較文明研究中心主任、倫敦大學與古騰堡大學批判文化遺產研究中心主任、英國倫敦大學考古學系榮譽教授、倫敦大學學院人類學系榮譽教授。
